Understanding Coupon Stacking: A Beginner's Guide
Coupon stacking is the secret weapon of extreme couponers. It simply means using more than one coupon on a single item. While not every store allows it, those that do can offer incredible savings.
What is Stacking?
Stacking usually refers to combining a Manufacturer Coupon with a Store
Coupon.
Example: Target has a store coupon for $1.00 off Tide detergent. Tide (the manufacturer) has a
coupon for $2.00 off. You can use BOTH on the same bottle for $3.00 off total.
Where to Find Coupons
- Manufacturer: Sunday newspaper inserts, coupons.com, brand websites.
- Store: Store apps (Target Circle, Kroger, Walgreens), weekly flyers.
Tips for Success
1. Read the Fine Print: Ensure the coupon doesn't say "Limit one coupon per purchase" (this usually refers to manufacturer coupons, you can still stack a store one).
2. Wait for a Sale: The holy grail is stacking coupons ON TOP of a sale price.
3. Use Rebate Apps: Stack even further by scanning your receipt into Ibotta after the purchase.
